The 1st template from the new package of GPMS templates has been published – the Activity List, a documented tabulation of schedule activities that shows the activity description, activity identifier, and a sufficiently detailed scope of work description so project team members understand what work is to be performed.

The PMDoc store has been transferred to Euro

In connection with obtaining Ukraine’s EU candidate status, we are transferring the PMDoc Shop to the Euro. This will help our team to focus on the EU market, develop English-language content, translate the site into EU languages, and offer services to European users. To be continued!

Russian aggression against Ukraine

We are a Ukrainian team from Odesa. Russia is destroying our cities, trying to impose on us their fucking “russian world”. We will never give up our freedom! Glory to Ukraine! If you do not know the answer to this salute, do not use our site.

The Pentagon Wars

The Pentagon Wars is a 1998 American comedy film that offers one of the best cinematic illustrations of mismanaging requirements, change, stakeholders, and program quality. The film chronicles the development of the M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle and serves as a powerful visual lesson in how not to manage a program. From the outset, the program […]

Two genres, two ideologies…

Two completely different worlds describe the same thing – the psychology of project management.
Among the very old films about project management, I have two favorites – The Chairman (1964, USSR) and Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948, USA).

Project education

The #Kilimanjaring Startup Project is all about education. We call it ‘project education’ – the learning by realizing a real project: Do not learn by reading. Write and learn! Do not learn by listening. Speak and learn! Do not learn by getting. Create and learn! Do not learn by watching. Act and learn! The main […]

There are no self-organized teams!

There are no self-organized teams! The #Kilimanjaring Project is a vivid confirmation of this. At the very initial stage of the project, we found out that the main goal of our project is not to climb to the top of Kilimanjaro but to raise the money ($15’000). The summit, a trip to Africa, an adventure, the experience […]

Develop Expedition Charter

Today we held a kick-off meeting of the #Kilimanjaring Project. We did it in accordance with PMBOK#6 because we are considering the test-drive of a new Body of Knowledge as the main value of our startup project. The first process “Develop Project Charter” was the basis of this meeting: The input of this process is […]

The Agreement on the Kilimanjaring Project

I take the first step in the new PMBOK test-drive. It has now two inputs to the initiating process – business documents and agreements. Business documents include business-case and funding. Since we are going to conduct an expedition by startup technology and attract external funding, it is too early to talk about business documents. But […]

Concept of the expedition to Kilimanjaro

We suggest the concept of the next expedition: The goal is the Kilimanjaro summit (elevation 5’895m /19’341ft). The mountain is significant because it is on the list of Seven Summits and is the highest peak in Africa. The project will be prepared by the run-in technology the Expedition Project Management. But it will be one […]

Captain Pantoja and the Special Service

The project retrospective analysis of the film ‘Captain Pantoja and the Special Service’, a Peruvian film based on a novel by Mario Vargas Llosa. While on the surface, the film is a dark comedy about a straight-laced army captain charged with creating a mobile brothel service for the army, it also presents a rich case study in project management. The film is perfect for learning about project management as almost every scene includes some type of document, process, or project management tool.
